Oxygen WebApp Editor Overview

This light-weight web-based XML editor is intended for use by occasional contributors (individuals other than primary content developers), such as subject matter experts (SMEs), legal or regulatory reviewers.

The Oxygen WebApp Editor is intended for use by individuals who do not have in-depth knowledge of XML, DITA, or the repository architecture.

Important: This feature is separately licensed by Astoria, and also requires licenses for the application from Oxygen (Syncro Soft SRL). An administrator must configure both licenses to make the application available to users. Only users in thecom.lspeed.astoria.WebEditorLicense group are authorized to use the Oxygen WebApp Editor. See Authoring Licenses and License Groups.

The Oxygen WebApp Editor may be used through the Astoria Review interface. See About the Astoria Reviewer Interface. The Review interface supports the use of annotations (comments). See About Annotations.

Users can access the WebApp Editor directly from the Workbench. Or using links to repository content provided in an email or job ticket, a user can view an XML document, such as a DITA topic or map, in the Astoria Review interface on a workstation or mobile device. If necessary, the user can open the document for editing in the WebApp Editor, make modifications, and check it in to the repository.

If you have installed the EditLink plugin from Oxygen, you can create PDF output that includes Edit online links that will open a topic from the repository for editing with WebApp. See About the EditLink Plugin.
