About Capabilities

Capabilities control operations on most objects.

Capabilities, also called privileges, allow users and groups to perform specific actions on an object. For example, the Change Description capability allows a user to change the description of an object. For descriptions of capabilities and the actions they support, see the following tables, organized by capability type.

The View Container Contents capability must be defined or inherited on each cabinet or folder for users to see the cabinet or folder contents. If a user does not have this privilege on objects, they will not see objects in the Workbench, and therefore cannot select the object to perform an action on it.

Members of the Administrators group have all capabilities on all repository objects. The capabilities are implied and are not displayed. For the list of these capabilities, see Administrator Capabilities.
