Importing New SVG Files as Structured Documents

An .svg file that references another image file must be imported as a structured document in order to correctly include the referenced image file.

An administrator must first configure your repository to support importing .svg files as structured documents. See Configuring the Repository to Manage SVG Files as Structured Documents.

Before importing a new .svg file as a structured document, you must import an SVG DTD into the repository. To import the SVG DTD, issue the Import DTD command on an .svg file or on a structured document that has an image reference to an .svg file.

See Importing a DTD.

Tip: You can also import an .svg file by importing a structured document (for example, a DITA topic or map) that references an .svg file. Any .svg file referenced by the structured document will also be imported and stored in the repository as a structured document.
  1. Navigate to the folder location where you want the .svg to be placed.
  2. Right-click the folder and select File > Import Structured Document.
The Import Structured Document dialog appears.
  3. Click Browse, then navigate to and select the .svg in the file system.
The File Name(s) field displays the .svg file name you selected.
  4. If necessary, modify the .svg file Name and enter a Description to be used in the repository.
For more details, see Importing a Structured Document.
  5. Click OK.
The .svg file you selected is imported into the repository, along with any referenced files.
