To be found in a search, Astoria objects must meet certain requirements and can be constrained by certain restrictions.
Restriction or Requirement | Description |
---|---|
Search scope | Most searches can be restricted to a cabinet or folder hierarchy within the repository. If an object is not contained in the scope, it will not be returned in the search results. |
Current version | A content search finds strings only in the current version of a file or structured document. |
Permission to access | A user must have been granted the View Container Contents privilege in the container where the object is located in order to find the object. |
Searchability property | An Astoria property can determine hierarchically whether an item can be searched. The property value can be set explicitly or inherited from a parent in the hierarchy. If the value is searchable, the item is included in the search index. See About Searchability. |
Correct search indexes | Search indexes may need to be updated (reindexed) when searchability properties are changed, or when upgrading to a new Astoria version. |
Search commands visible | An administrator must ensure search commands are visible to the group to which a user belongs for the user to perform searches. |
