Logs Folder

The Logs folder, which resides in the Administration cabinet, contains structured documents identifying user activities and system activities.

Astoria records actions by users such as creating, renaming, deleting, expunging, moving, and restoring folders and folder items. It also records events generated by Astoria Workflow. These actions and events are collected in the Activity Event Queue. See About the Activity Event Queue for more information about this queue.

At regular intervals--usually daily--the scheduled job Information Collector processes the entries in the Activity event queue. It writes processed items to the Activity subfolder, which is further organized into subfolders for year and month. Within each month are daily log files, implemented as DITA topics (based on the topic DTD) and each containing the following simpletable structure:
Column Name Description
Event The event action (such as create, rename, move, expunge) and name of the object.
Type The object type (such as structured document, file, reference).
Details The hierarchical location of the object in the repository.
Date A date and timestamp when the event occurred.
User The name of the user who performed the event.
Id The repository object id.
Host Name Name of the host system.
Process Id Process id of the event.
Session Name Session name of the event

Administrators can drill down to details in these log files through various methods. The structured documents can be referenced in a map, composed to output, exported, or searched.
