Updating a Pending Translation (No Translation Vendor Configured)

You can update a pending translation only if a translation is already in progress for the target language on the map or topic you select.

This task is required only if your system is not configured to integrate with one of the translation manager vendors.

When you select Update Pending Translation for the Translation Package Contains list in the Start Translation dialog, Astoria creates a translation package that can be merged into an existing translation package. It will contain only those documents that have changed since the current in-progress translation was started. You must extract the files from the update package and merge it into the existing package.

  1. Right-click the structured document and select Translate > Start Translation.
  2. In the Translation Package Contains field, select Update Pending Translation.
  3. Specify other fields in the Translation options area the same as those that were specified by the in-progress translation job.
  4. Click OK.
An update pending translation package is created. It will contain only those documents that have changed since the current in-progress translation was started.
The package created by this operation must not be imported into Astoria by itself; this will fail. You can only extract the files in this package and merge it into the pending package.

To merge the files, unzip and extract both the pending and update translation packages. Move the updated files from the update package into the pending package.

If the package has been sent to the translator already, the files in the updated package should be sent to the translator and instructions given to ignore the earlier files of the same name and translate these files instead.
