Permanently Destroying a Deleted Object

By default, deleted items can be restored indefinitely, unless they are permanently destroyed.

Deleted objects can be permanently destroyed automatically when they exceed a system-defined retention period. See Configuring the Repository Wastebasket.

Deleted folder items that are referenced by another object are never automatically destroyed.

You can manually destroy a deleted object.

  1. Right-click a folder or cabinet and select File > List Deleted Items.
  2. From the list of deleted objects, right-click the object of interest and select File > Delete.
  3. Click Yes to confirm that you want to permanently delete the object.
The object is permanently destroyed in the repository and can no longer be restored.
