An administrator can configure the repository to set up the wastebasket feature. Folder items deleted from the repository are moved to the wastebasket instead of being completely deleted from the repository. Wastebasket objects can later be restored for use.
Important: The wastebasket feature is available only on 64-bit repositories.
Note: The default for a new repository is that the wastebasket is enabled and items in the wastebasket will be retained forever.
- Run the disableWasteBasket administrator script on the ACS server with a parameter of enable.
The wastebasket feature is enabled.
- [Optional] Set a Wastebasket Lifetime custom attribute on a cabinet specifying the number of days to retain deleted items before they are automatically destroyed.
A value of 0 indicates deleted items are never automatically destroyed.
If a cabinet does not have a Wastebasket Lifetime custom attribute specified, the value of the
Administration cabinet's Wastebasket Lifetime custom attribute is used. The default value is 0, which specifies to retain forever.
- Ensure the Expired Unreferenced Deleted Item Expunger job is scheduled to run automatically to enforce the wastebasket policy.
If this job does not run, or is scheduled for a frequency other than daily, it will impact wastebasket processing.
