You can use the oXygen editor to open a document in the Sandbox to edit.
Important: Open the document using Oxygen options. If you open the checked out document from the Workbench, you will open the last checked in version of the document from the repository, which then overwrites the copy in the Sandbox.
This action is available in both online and offline mode.
In the oXygen editor:

The Sandbox version of the document is opened for editing in the oXygen editor.
