GS Example: Migrate Conref References to a Different Document

This example shows how to use the Global Substitution tool to migrate content reference targets (conref attributes) on elements in a document to those in a different target document.

Create or locate a document in the repository with elements having the same id/subid as those in the original target document. Select that document, then select Publish > GUID. This places the GUID of the new target document on your clipboard.
  1. Find and select the elements with the conref reference to be migrated.
  2. Right-click and select Search > Global Substitution.
    The Global Substitution dialog appears.
  3. Click New, then from the Type column, select Custom from the list.
  4. From the Replace With column, select repairConrefByGUID from the list.
  5. In the Replace With field, within the parentheses, paste the GUID from your clipboard, and enclose it with single quotation marks.
  6. Select the Check In check box.
  7. Type in a Version Note.
  8. Click OK.
A batch job is executed to perform the changes. When the job completes, you receive an email notification.

Structured documents that are changed during this job are updated and have the Version Note you entered.
