Composing Output with Arbortext PE

This task describes how to compose a repository document using Arbortext Publishing Engine (PE).

Your system must be configured to integrate with PE before you can compose. See Configuring Arbortext PE for Output.
  1. Right-click the structured document you want to compose.
  2. Select Publish > Compose with PE.
A composition job is placed on the Astoria Event Queue named Astoria-PECompositionSpool. When the job completes successfully, the PDF is placed on the server in the location configured by the Publish File Root custom attribute.

Queue functionality is modeled after a printer queue. Jobs that complete with no errors are deleted from the queue. A job that has encountered an error along the path (whether it is during communication with PE, or reported by PE), is not deleted, and you have the option to either Delete or Retry the job.

Note: A well-configured system also includes a link to the PDF in the job completion e-mail sent to the submitter.
