Event Queue

An Event Queue is a repository object that stores a list of event objects.

Event queues receive events when interesting repository updates occur. Daemon processes, located typically on servers, can be activated to perform batch processing on incoming events arriving in an event queue. Astoria event queues can handle various tasks, such as publishing and composition. Event queues can only be created by administrators and access controls can limit who can access and manipulate them.

You can modify the presentation of columns in the Workbench Details view to display Host and Process Id columns. These columns are relevant only to event queues that are used to process work. When the Description displays Running, the Host column will display the computer name of the server on which the work is being performed. Similarly, the Process Id column will display the operating system's id of the executing process. See Modifying a View Presentation.
