Substitution Rule Types

Multiple types of substitution rules are supported.

Substitution rules include these types:

Preprocess Substitution Rule
Preprocess rules execute first and identify candidates for a Global Substitution job.
Change Text Substitution Rule
Change Text conditionally causes text content immediately within the specified elements to be replaced.
Change Description Substitution Rule
Change Description changes the description of all structured documents in the supplied collection of documents.
Rename Folder Item Substitution Rule
Rename Folder Item changes the name of all folder items in the supplied collection of documents.
Rename Element Substitution Rule
Rename Element changes the name of all elements in the supplied collection of document elements.
Rename Attribute Substitution Rule
Rename Attribute conditionally changes an attribute name on all elements in the supplied collection of document elements.
Remove Element Substitution Rule
Remove Element unconditionally removes the elements being processed.
Remove Attribute Substitution Rule
Remove Attribute discards the specified attribute on all elements in the supplied collection of document elements.
Set Attribute Substitution Rule
Set Attribute conditionally changes an attribute on all elements in the supplied collection of document elements.
Custom Substitution Rule
Custom Substitution rules enable arbitrary matching and replacement processing to be specified.
