Suppressing Exclude Filtering Attributes

An administrator can suppress the availability of exclude filtering attributes when creating a filter.

If the application document's Show Filtering Attribute Excludes field selection is Hierarchical Filtering Taxonomy, administrators cannot create filters with exclude attribute values.
Important: Selecting this option disables the ability to create a hierarchical taxonomy of filtering attribute values as filter constraints.

Organizations that do not intend to use exclude filtering attribute values can suppress them in the Add Filter and Edit Filtering Attributes dialogs. Examples in this document assume exclude filtering attributes are allowed.

If exclude filtering attributes are suppressed, selection icons appear as dualstate icons. That is, clicking the icon creates an include value and turns green, moving the selection button to the right. When a value is not selected, the icon remains clear with the selection button to the left.

If exclude filtering attributes are allowed, selection icons appear as tristate icons. That is, clicking on the left side of the icon creates an exclude value and turns it red, moving the selection button to the left. Clicking on the right side of the icon creates an include value and turns it green, moving the selection button to the right. Where a value is not selected, the icon remains clear with the selection button in the center.
