An administrator can configure Astoria to create translation packages and store them in the repository that you manually export and transmit to your language service provider. Alternatively, the administrator can configure Astoria to automatically transmit translation packages directly to and from a translation management vendor product.
Specify the destination in the Translation Package destination field in the application document.
If Folder is specified for the Translation Package destination option in the application document, when you issue the Start Translation command, Astoria creates a translation package (a .zip file) and stores it in the Translations/Export folder in the Administration cabinet. You will manually export the file and transmit it to your language service provider for translation.
After it has been translated and returned to you, you will manually import it into the Translations/Import folder in the Administration cabinet, where an Astoria daemon will populate the placeholder structure in the target language cabinet with the translated objects. If the translation package was translated into multiple languages, you must import a translated package for each language.
If FTP-Zip-SRC is specified for the Translation Package destination option in the application document, when you issue the Start Translation command, Astoria creates a translation package (a .zip file) and stores it in the directory specified in the SDL FTP Base Directory for Export field in the application document. See Configuring the FTP-ZIP-SRC Translation Package Destination.

You must have an account with the vendor before you can begin transmitting translation packages. If you have selected any of these vendor options for the Translation Package destination option and configured them in the application document, when you issue the Start Translation command, Astoria creates a translation package and automatically transmits it to the vendor, where it is processed according to that vendor's method.
After it has been translated, the package is automatically transmitted back to Astoria and imported into the repository.
