About Saving Without Checking In

Integrated editors allow you to save a document you are editing without simultaneously checking it into the repository.

When you perform this intermediary save, the content stays locked to you. If you save a structured document without checking it in, then you, and only you, will see this saved version when viewing the topic. If you compose the saved version, the composed output will contain the saved but not checked in changes. When other users view or compose the document, they will only see the last checked in version instead.

The oXygen editor and XMetaL save the document to a local sandbox on your system. You can close the editor and later open the document to edit from the sandbox. See About Sandbox Folders.

Arbortext Editor saves the document to the repository, using the Save dialog. The Show History dialog records the saved version information (the Display only checkin stamps check box must be cleared). However, when you close the editor you must either check in the document or discard any changes.

If you revoke your checkout, the saved version is removed from the repository.
