The WAN Bridge for Oxygen installs an Astoria Sandbox view in the Oxygen interface.
When you open a document from the repository for editing in Oxygen, a copy of the file is placed in your Sandbox, a directory on your local machine. The document in the repository is locked. All editing functions are performed on the document in the Sandbox.
The Sandbox is located at Users\yourusername\.astoria\offlineAuthorSandbox\systemname.
During the editing session, if you perform interim saves, the document is saved in the Sandbox. Additionally, a background task saves the file to the repository. This greatly improves the performance of the save operation. As long as the network connection to the repository is available, all repository functions are available during the editing session. When you check in the document, it is saved in the repository and unlocked. The copy of the file is removed from the Sandbox. If you revoke checkout on a document, it is removed from the Sandbox.
If for any reason during the editing session the network connection to the repository becomes unavailable, you can continue to edit the document and perform interim saves. Many repository menu items are unavailable, such as referencing an image or a conref target, or checking in a file. If you attempt any of these actions while in online mode, you are notified that the repository cannot be accessed. If you respond to the notification by clicking Continue, the bridge transitions to offline mode, allowing you to continue working on the document in Oxygen. When the repository becomes available again, click Online in the Astoria menu to transition back to the online mode and access repository functions again.
