Setting Up Oxygen Author

This task describes how to set up Oxygen Author to support use of custom DITA DTDs in Oxygen Web App.

  1. Create a new folder in the Oxygen frameworks folder and give it a name that coincides with your DITA extension.
  2. Copy your DTDs with all related mod and ent files into this folder.
If your DTDs and related files are in a folder structure, copy the entire folder structure to the new folder.
  3. Create an XML catalog to map the Public ID of the DITA files to the location of the DTD files (or if you have a catalog copy) and paste it in the new folder.
  4. Open Oxygen Author and select Options > Preferences > Document Type Associations.
  5. Select DITA, click Extend, and enter a Name and Description for the new extension.
  6. Set Storage for External, then click the folder icon and browse to the folder you created in the frameworks folder.
  7. Select the Catalogs tab and add the catalog that is in your new folder.
  8. Click OK, then click OK to apply the changes.
  9. Test the setup to ensure it has been configured correctly:
    1. Open Oxygen Author, then from the Astoria menu, navigate to and Edit a document that references the custom DTD.
    2. Export the same or similar document to your desktop and open it in Oxygen Author.
  10. Zip the new folder in the frameworks folder.
