Replying to an Annotation Comment

You can reply to an existing annotation comment, or reply to another reply made on an element.

• To reply to an annotation from the Browse view or Reviewer interface:
  1. Click the comment box in the right margin on the desired element.
     An annotation details box appears. If the annotation already has replies, they are nested in boxes.
  2. In the original annotation or in an annotation reply box, click Reply.
     A dialog appears.
  3. Select the annotation Type and enter or select values for the remaining fields.
  4. Click Reply.
  The reply is saved in the repository. The comment box in the right margin displays a threaded conversation icon ().
• To reply to an annotation to a folder object or document element using a Workbench context menu command, or to a structured document element using an integrated XML editor repository menu command:
  1. Navigate to the object of interest or open the document to edit.
     To show annotations on an element, you can expand the structured document in the Navigation view and select the element. To show annotations using an integrated XML editor, select the element.
  2. Right-click the object and select Task > Show Annotations.
     The Annotations dialog appears.

     
     

     

     
     

     If multiple annotations are attached to the object, they appear in separate rows in the Annotations box. If an annotation already has replies, the row displays a folder icon and can be expanded to show the replies.

  3. Select the row for the annotation you want to reply to and click Reply.
  4. If prompted, select the annotation Type from the list, then click OK.
     In the Annotations dialog, the Annotation box displays the fields defined for the annotation type selected.
  5. Enter or select values for the remaining fields as appropriate for the annotation definition.
  6. Click Ok.
  The reply is saved in the repository, noting the user who created it and the date and time it was created.
