Removing an Annotation

You can remove an annotation using the Reviewer or a Browse view of an object with an annotation attached, or through the Annotations dialog.

You must be authorized to delete annotations.

Note: If you remove an annotation that is the parent of a threaded comment conversation (that is, a reply to an annotation), this will remove all its children annotations. See About Threaded Conversations in Annotations.

To remove an annotation using the Reviewer interface or a Browse view:
1. Navigate to or View the topic with the annotation to be deleted.
2. For the annotation to delete, click the trash can icon () in the comment box in the right margin.
  If the comment box shows the threaded conversation icon, to remove a reply annotation, click on the comment box to open the annotation details box to display the nested reply annotations, then click the trash can icon () in the box for the annotation to be deleted.
3. When prompted, click Yes.
The comment box is removed, or the reply annotation is removed from the annotation details box.
To remove an annotation on a folder object or document element using a Workbench context menu command, or to a structured document element using an integrated XML editor repository menu command:
1. Navigate to the object of interest or open the document to edit.
  To show annotations on an element, you can expand the structured document in the Navigation view and select the element. To show annotations using an integrated XML editor, select the element.
2. Issue the Show Annotations command.
  From the Workbench, select Task > Show Annotations. From the integrated editor, select Repository > Astoria > Show Annotations
  The Annotations dialog appears. If reply annotations exist on an annotation, expand the folder icon to display the replies.
3. Select the annotation to remove in the Annotations box and click Remove.
  The annotation is removed from the dialog.
4. Click OK.
  The Annotations dialog closes, and your changes are saved in the repository. You may need to refresh or reload the object to see the changes.
