Editing Documents from Different Versions of Astoria

If you wish to edit documents from Astoria Servers of different versions, you must install separate instances of Oxygen on your client machine, one instance for each separate Astoria version.

This task describes installing two instances of oXygen on the user's (client) machine.
  1. Install oXygen for first instance.
This instance will be used to edit documents from the first server and other servers with the same version of Astoria.
  2. Install oXygen for second instance into a different folder.
Tip: Name this folder with the server name or version appended to avoid confusion.
  3. Navigate to the folder C:\Users\%current user%\AppData\Roaming.
  4. Create an empty subfolder com.oxygenxml2 within the Roaming folder.
  5. Navigate to the installation folder for the second instance of oXygen.
  6. Modify the .vmoptions file.
The file name can be oxygen%version%.vmoptions or oxygenAuthor%version%.vmoptions, if oXygen Author is being used.
    1. Add the following as the last line to point to the new options folder.

      -Dcom.oxygenxml.customOptionsDir=${APPDATA}/com.oxygenxml2

    2. Save the file.
  7. Launch the Workbench for the first server and select the first instance of oXygen as the editor for it.
  8. Launch the Workbench for the second server and select the second instance of oXygen as the editor for it.
  9. Install the WAN Bridge for each editor instance.
Workbench documents for each server can now be edited with the instance of oXygen editor installed for that server.
