Dragging and Dropping DITA Elements with ID Attributes

DITA elements that contain an id element can be dragged and dropped from the Workbench Navigation view into the oXygen editor as an xref or conref.

1. In the Navigation view, select a DITA topic that contains an element with an id that you want to use as an @xref or @conref in a different topic.
2. Expand the topic to the desired element.
3. Open the topic where you want to reuse the element in oXygen editor.
4. In the Navigation view, select the desired element and drag it into the oXygen editor and drop it in the desired location.
5. The Create reference dialog appears.
   
   
   
6. Select the reference type and click OK.
