Adding a Chapter or Appendix Element to a Bookmap

You can use the context menu to add a chapter or appendix element to a bookmap, then reference chapter or appendix topics or maps.

  1. In the Document Structure area, right-click a map element adjacent to where you want to place the chapter or appendix element.
  2. Select one of these options for the location of the chapter or appendix element.
    • Add Before
    • Add After
    • Add Child
  3. From the list of element types, select chapter or appendix.
    A chapter or appendix element is added to the bookmap in the location you specify.
  4. Select the chapter or appendix element you just added and in the Element Details area, select Add Attribute, then from the list, select href.
    The Edit Attribute dialog appears.
  5. Click Browse for Topic, then navigate to and select a topic or map from the repository, and click OK.
    The Edit Attribute Value field displays the URL for the object you selected.
  6. Click OK.
    • If you selected a map, the Element Details area contains:
      • An href attribute with the URL for the map.
      • A format attribute with the value ditamap.
    • If you selected a topic, the Element Details area contains:
      • An href attribute with the URL for the topic.
      • A format attribute with the value dita.
      • A type attribute with the value of the topic type (such as task, concept, reference).
  7. Optionally, add other attribute values to the chapter or appendix element as desired.
