Translation Package File Name Requirements

The translation package file name must conform to requirements for the translation process to succeed.

The translation package file name is created with the name of the object being translated, such as a DITA map or topic (or the name of the first object included in the translation if multiple objects are multiselected), and optionally with the language string or language_locale string prefixed by a hyphen appended. The file extension is .zip.

Depending on your configuration, your package file names may already include the language_locale string. This is the case if you have selected the All Documents translations create multiple packages check box in the application document or have selected Only documents that have changed in the Start Translation dialog. For example, if the selected object is PartsMap.ditamap, the translation package (translated into French for France) will be called PartsMap.ditamap-fr_fr.zip.

However, if you have cleared the All Documents translations create multiple packages check box in the application document, and select All documents and more than one target language in the Start Translation dialog, Astoria creates a single translation package and the file name will not include a language_locale string. In this case, you must rename each returned package when you upload it. You can modify the file name by adding the correct language_locale string before manually importing the file into Astoria. If the imported translation package does not have a valid language_locale string as part of its name, the package is not imported. Instead an email is sent to the translation administrator (specified in the Administrator email field in the application document), indicating the language of this translation package is undefined. The email contains a link to the errant file. The administrator can issue the Set Language command to specify the target language. See Setting the Translation Language.

SDL/Nexus-SJP Post-Translation Package File Names

SDL/ Nexus-SJP adds a timestamp and source and target language_locale pair suffix to the pre-translation package file name. For example, if the pre-translation package name was Partsmap.ditamap.zip, post-translation package names would be:
Target Language File Name
Simplified Chinese Partsmap.ditamap_15-09-2010T11-15-25_EN-US-ZH-CN.zip
French (France) Partsmap.ditamap_15-09-2010T11-15-25_EN-US-FR-FR.zip
