Toggling Inheritance of Access Controls

Administrators can disable inheritance of a Capability, or a Role Group, such that the inheritance does not trickle down to lower-level objects. Once disabled, inheritance can be explicitly re-enabled on a lower level object.

In the Define Access Controls dialog, Capabilities or Role Group items that can be inherited are indicated with a trailing ^ character.

To disable inheritance of a specific item, select it and click Toggle Inherit. The trailing ^ character no longer appears for the item, and lower-level objects no longer inherit the setting. To re-enable inheritance, click Toggle Inherit again.

Note: Access controls set at the Global Access level cannot have inheritance disabled.
