How Structured Documents are Managed in the Repository

Each element in a structured document is managed as a separate object in the repository.

A structured document contains a collection of elements, with their structure and hierarchy based on the DTD referenced by the structured document. A structured document file is stored in the repository as an object. However, each element within the structured document is stored in the repository as a separate object, and is assigned a unique object ID with an initial version record. You can access and perform many actions on individual element objects and object versions in the repository.
