About Searching Online Help

The help system includes a powerful text search engine that runs simple or complex queries on the documentation to help you find the required information.

Searching Astoria Online Help

Enter a search text in the Search field and click Go. The search result topics appear in the Contents frame. Click on a topic to see the topic content in the browser's right frame.

Select a topic, then click to restrict your search to the selected topic, or to the selected topic and its subtopics.

Searching Help Browser Content

You can search the current contents displayed in the browser, including the Contents frame, by clicking Ctrl+F. A new Find toolbar appears above the Search field. Type a search term in the toolbar's Find field and press Enter.
  • The toolbar indicates how many matches were found.
  • Click to highlight matches.
  • Narrow the search using the Options list by selecting either Match whole word only or Match case, or both.
  • Cycle through the matches by clicking Previous or Next.
  • Click X to close the Find toolbar.

Generating the Search Index

The first time you search the online help, the help system may initiate an index-generation process. This process builds the indexes for the search engine to use. It may take several minutes depending on the amount of documentation and if pre-built indexes are installed. Results of the search are available upon completion of the indexing process.

Each time you add or modify the documentation set (for example, when you install a new release or update an existing one), the index is updated to reflect the new information set.
