About Saved Searches

Astoria provides a collection of predefined searches (in the Public Searches folder in the Administration cabinet) that can be parameterized to prompt the user for search criteria.

In addition to the supplied searches, administrators can create and save complex searches that can be executed repeatedly (accepting parameters if needed). Currently, Astoria saved searches are created only by administrators using the Astoria Search tool. Saved searches can also be stored in regular cabinets and folders, and can be executed by users who are authorized to view container contents on the location where the saved search is located. You can find search objects using the Basic Search function.

Run a saved search by selecting a cabinet or folder, then selecting Search > Saved Search, then select a search name from the list in the Public Searches folder, or navigate to and select a saved search name in a different repository location. If the saved search specifies parameters, executing the search prompts the user to supply the values for the named parameters. The search will be limited in scope to the selected cabinet or folder, recursively looking at all child folders. Search results are displayed in the Details view.

See Search Expression Rules for Repository Objects Using Basic Searches and Saved Searches.
