About Object Deletion

The way deleted objects are handled in the repository depends on the object type and the configuration of the repository.

If the repository is configured to support the wastebasket feature, here is how different object types are handled when deleted:
Object Type Deletion Handling
Folder item objects (for example, structured documents, files, and folders) Folder item objects that are deleted are moved to a wastebasket folder. They can be restored until they are permanently destroyed.
Note: If you delete a folder, you cannot restore individual objects that were in the folder. You must restore the folder itself.
Administrative objects (for example, annotation definitions, annotation instances, custom attributes, groups, and roles) When deleted, these objects are permanently destroyed and cannot be restored.
Users Deleted users are never destroyed, so administrators can always restore them.
References Deleting a reference object from the Shortcuts view results only in the shortcut being deleted, not the referenced object.
Important: If the repository is not configured to support the wastebasket feature, deleted objects are permanently destroyed and cannot be restored.
